Local Community Development
I have been involved for over 20 years
with community based development projects in my home
town of Bollington near Macclesfield, Cheshire. I am
familiar with the role of Parish and Town Councils,
local civic societies and amenity groups and their relationship
with local authorities and other government organisations.
In particular I have:
| Raised over £80,000
for the development of a Discovery Centre
in a room in a historic mill beside the Macclesfield
Canal. |
|
| Chair the Kerridge Ridge
and Ingersley Vale Countryside and Heritage
Project which as developed a £1.1million
Heritage Lottery Funded landscape partnership
to restore and interpret a range of heritage
features in the countryside. |
|
| Helped launch and become
a founder trustee of the Bollington Initiative
Trust, a new local Development Trust and Community
Interest Company, designed to develop and
manage assets of land a buildings for community
uses. Raised an initial £40,000 to help
investigate projects for the Trust. |
|
| Been Deputy Chairman
of the Bollington Civic Society for over 5
years. |
|
| Convened and regular
written for the local Community magazine –
Bollington Live! |
